Travel. For the young and restless, is there anything more tantalizing? After years of slaving away in various Portland offices, I’ve developed a perpetual itch (ok, it’s more like a full-fledged rash) that can only be scratched with planes, trains, and automobiles. Perhaps I’ve spent too much time drooling over the Travel Channel, but I’m ready to strap on a fanny pack and transform into a globetrotting sponge, soaking in new sights, smells, and tastes with every stride. Bring it on, world, you cute little oyster. I’m ready to be a cultural “fish out of water”.
So apparently, there are guys out there called travel bloggers, who spend their days traveling the world and writing about it. Yep, no joke.
Jerks.
For years, I’ve dreamed of joining their ranks, turning green with envy with every torturous blog post I read. It’s been years since I’ve embarked on an adventure abroad, shackled by school, work, and well, life.
But…no longer! Goodbye excuses! I’m thrilled to say that on Saturday, I’ll be leaving the Portland hipster realm to spend 3 weeks in Edinburgh, Scotland. Visiting the UK has been a lifelong dream of mine, and I couldn’t be happier that it’s finally coming true. Join me in my exploration of kilts, bagpipes, haggis…and the evitable debunking of my cultural preconceptions!
