Goin' Back to Bali

So, after a week of shivering in South Korea’s wind and cold, we realized what weather-wimps we’ve become…

..and hopped a plane back to the glorious SE Asian sunshine!

Too beautiful.
What we didn’t know was that we had arrived just in time for Bali’s New Year celebration.

It’s all fun & games, until Nyepi day, or Bali’s “Day of Silence”. On Nyepi, everything on the entire island is closed, even the airport. No one works or is allowed into the streets, and lights must be kept to a minimum. For the Balinese, this is a day of fasting and meditation, but for us, it meant a lot of cartoons.
Yet, being cooped up indoors only ignited our desire for exploration!
We were lucky enough to make a local friend who took us to Pandawa Beach.

Although it’s beautiful, it’s also known for the giant Hindu statues set right into the cliffside.

Of course, the breathtaking beach is the main attraction.

…and fresh coconuts and local seaweed noodles are a must-try!

Speaking of food, a return trip to Bali meant that we had to try Babi Guling, or Balinese suckling pig.

So good!

Goat skewers and goat soup are pretty tasty as well.

Yumm...
Anyways, back to the eye candy.

Dreamland Beach

Uluwatu

Once again, we had a great time in Bali.
It was difficult to leave, but we’ll be back!
