Although I had a great time in Berlin, a major reason for my trip to Germany was to visit some of the lovely German friends I had made during my previous trip to Scotland.

Meet Christine!
This lovely lady gave me all the German exposure I could ask for and more, starting with a trip to her hometown!

Well, it’s so tiny that it’s really more of a village.

These villages, or collections of adorable historic German houses and churches, are quite common all over Germany.

Christine’s parents were kind enough to cook us a wonderful meal of traditional German food!

Kloesse-a kind of mashed potato ball…great wth the gravy!

Sunshine, delicious food, and this view from their outdoor patio…simply awesome.
Afterwards, we headed to Marburg, a beautiful historic German city with cobblestone streets, lovely old buildings…

and a castle! Yay!

beer with peaches…prost! (cheers)

Then…brekkie time
Breakfast in Germany usually consists of hard buns from the local bakery, butter, sliced cheese, eggs, fruit, nutella, and red sausage. Basically, you cut the buns in half and eat them with your selection of savory or sweet accompaniments.
Once we were happy and full, we headed to the town of Kassel.

You can see why!

What a wonderful weekend!
Thanks Christine! You’re simply the best!
After spending a few more days in Berlin, I concluded my stay in Germany…

with the Volksfest in Stuttgart!

Although I initially wanted to visit Munich’s Oktoberfest, it was a bit too expensive.

So the Volksfest was the perfect alternative!

Although not as big as its Bavarian counterpart..

I was certainly not disappointed.
Well Germany, it’s been swell!
I’ll be back sooner than later…but until then…
London time!
